Sessions triples down on marijuana as dangerous drug, not opioid crisis solution

In a speech to law enforcement, Jeff Sessions said the nation needs to “hammer” drug dealers and other criminals while bringing back the drug abstinence campaigns of the 1980s. Sessions told reporters he was “dubious” of medical marijuana in general, and that his office may rethink parts of an Obama-era policy allowing individual states to legalize marijuana use.

Sessions has made plenty of negative remarks about marijuana, but exactly what sort of enforcement we might see remains unclear. Those not in total compliance with the law put themselves most at risk. Gray areas are likely targets.
