The first retail marijuana stores in Massachusetts, doubling as the first ones to open east of the Mississippi, experienced long lines on their simultaneous opening day.
Day 2 saw slightly shorter lines as the Thanksgiving holiday approached. State regulators declined to predict when the lines will settle down and the foot traffic will start to mimic the number of people who walk in and out of liquor stores across the state.
But regulators with the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission say more retail marijuana shops are on the way, as licenses of varying types advance through the pipeline.
