Forum Information from the Cannabis Control Commission:
The Commission will also hold an Applicant Forum next Thursday, January 23, from 1-5 p.m. at Union Station to enable applicants to discuss their experience with the licensing process and related concerns. Applicants may sign up in advance and identify their application number to receive priority in the speaking order. Please be aware that this will be an open meeting and all comments will be public and live streamed on the Commission’s Facebook page.
During the forum, Commissioners and staff will gather information. They will not act on applications or make policy changes but may ask follow-up questions to better understand an applicant’s position or experience. The Commission may also discuss recommendations and initiatives already underway to help applicants understand what to expect going forward, including the development of new technology that will allow applicants to better track the status of their application in the coming weeks.
Each applicant will be allotted five minutes to speak at the forum, not including follow-up discussion. Certified Economic Empowerment Applicants, MTC Priority Applicants, and Social Equity Program participants with an open application will speak first, followed by applicants eligible for expedited review (Independent Testing Laboratories, outdoor Cultivators, Craft Marijuana Cooperatives, Microbusinesses, and Woman-, Minority-, and Veteran-Owned businesses), unregistered applicants, then all other attendees. Applicants and attendees who have not signed up in advance may speak if time allows. The Applicant Forum will end promptly at 5 p.m. and advanced registration does not guarantee an opportunity to speak at the forum.
The purpose of the forum is for Commissioners and staff to better understand the challenges applicants may face related to the Commission’s licensing process. Intended next steps include:
1. a series of roundtables with Commissioners and affected people who may be invited to discuss recommendations that come out of the forum to address concerns, and;
2. the publication of a supplemental list of frequently asked questions, which combined with updated Guidance on Licensing, may help clear up common misconceptions about Commission policies.
The Applicant Forum will be held:
